I’ve been to a lot of music festivals, but I’d never been to Austin Psych Fest before this weekend.
In many ways the festival felt a lot more hippie and a lot less corporate than a lot of music festivals.
(It would be harder to get much more corporate than South By Southwest or the Austin City Limits Music Fesival!)
This hippie-ness combined with the edge-of-town location of the festival meant that I gave rides to two dudes I have never met before. One was Ian, an Austinite who was walking on the dusty road to the festival late on Friday afternoon. The other was *Phi (pronounced Fee) who had survived Saturday night’s monsoon, and needed a ride to the airport so that he could go home and take his college exams!
Given that I was in a car accident a few weeks before the festival, just going to the event took a lot more out of me than I was expecting.
So for now, here are some other people’s pictures of the festival. More to come soon!
*Update: The spelling of Phi’s name and the educational level of his exams have been updated on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at his request. My apologies.
