I survived Burning Man 2025
Every year going to Burning Man gets just a little bit harder. Some years it’s because of my own life and some years it is because of the weather.
This year my friends and I were among the last cars that were allowed onto gate road before gate was closed. Driving on muddy gate road was hard enough that one of the other drivers in our group–an avid skiier with lots of snow driving experience and a Subaru– was spinning out on the mud roads.
The rain made the roads of the city impossible to drive on, and meant that we ended up waiting at the gate overnight. We saw a lot of cars getting stuck in the mud.
I didn’t take my proper camera gear this year, so here are a few phone photos to give you an idea what the event was like.
