New Pope Energy
I’m not even Catholic and I’m really loving all the “new pope energy” that I’ve been seeing around the internet. From the stories about him playing priest with an ironing board when he was a child to the jokes about deep dish communion wafers (since the new pope is from Chicago), this is the pope that even non-Catholic America didn’t know we needed.
Politics has been so ugly and divisive that the new pope has been a huge bright spot. And having the new pope be from America will be a bigger boost to our national image than having the upcoming summer olympics in LA. As a dear friend pointed out to me, the orange one is no longer the most important American in the world.
I remember what a big deal it was when Pope John Paul II came to America in the 70s, with his popemobile and when pope mementos went off the charts. Anyone else remember “pope on a rope” soap.
This “New Pope Energy” is like having a surprise royal wedding! Or having a new Taylor Swift album drop.
Will the new pope wear velvet slippers? Will he have his brothers come to Christmas at the Vatican? Is his election a response to the possibility that Trump brought up becoming Pope himself? I have so many questions.
Seriously, this new pope is the first thing I’ve been excited by in a while. And I don’t think I’m alone.
